He was born in Durban. In 1983 he obtained a BA(FA) from University of Durban Westville (UDW); in 1988 an MA(FA) cum laude and in 1989 a Higher Diploma in Education from UDW.
He was a lecturer in History of Art, specialising in Indian Art, at UDW, before leaving Durban to take up a teaching post in Gauteng, at the Technikon Witwatersrand.
He has held a number of solo exhibitions and has participated in group exhibitions in SA and abroad. His work is represented in the DAG collection and in private collections in SA.
