Attacks on Sasol 1 and NATREF in Sasolburg and Sasol 2 in Secunda take place in the night of 31 May/1 June in order to coincide with Republic Day. Nobody is killed in the attacks and the only casualty is a security guard at Sasol I who receives injuries. David Motshwane Moisi and Sipho Matthews Thobela were later granted amnesty in respect of the attack on Sasol 2 by the TRC.
