Kim Ludbrook

Born on 9 June 1969, in Masvingo, Zimbabwe, Kim Ludbrook grew up in Kwa-Zulu Natal. After completing his national service he moved to England in 1990 and studied photojournalism from 1993-1994 at the Kent Institute of Art and Design, England, finishing with a postgraduate at the University of Wales, Cardiff. After freelancing for Rex Features in London, he moved back to South Africa and was based in Cape Town where he worked for local and international newspapers. 

In 1999 he became the Chief Photographer at The Saturday Star before moving onto The Star where he is presently a senior photographer.

He has worked for Associated Press, AFP and Reuters and has been published in Time, Newsweek, Liberation, The Observer, US Sports Illustrated, Marie Claire and The Telegraph. He was also chosen to be part of The Day in The Life of Africa a book project in February of 2002 that documented Africa in one day.

He has also gained awards at the Fuji South African Press Photographer of the year and had his Biker Exhibition exhibited at The Month of Photography 2002 in Cape Town. He lives in Johannesburg but would rather be shooting assignments in the four corners of the globe.
