Dullaart completed his National Diploma in Journalism at Pretoria Technikon and did two years of a fine arts degree at UNISA and two years of his National Diploma in Photography at Pretoria Technikon. He was a lecturer at the Institute for the Advancement of Journalism in Johannesburg during 1995 and 1996.
In 1999 Dullaart set out to document the state of negligence by the families of South African elderly people and has sustained a solid personal interest in their situation, resulting in a delicate work in progress on the life of pensioners in old age homes.
He is Johannesburg based and has been a photographer for The Star newspaper for the last nine years. He covered the aftermath of the floods in Mozambique in October 2000. Dullaart joined South Photographs in 2001.
