Early Segregation. Rickshas could either carry white passengers and their goods, or just goods. It was generally assumed that blacks could not afford the fare. Thus rickshas designated for white use were affixed with a sign “Europeans only”. DROA made these available to its membership. Only rickshas could not carry market produce.
