Khuzwayo Joe Mlangeni along with four others were the first to be executed at the Pretoria Central prison for political reasons. This followed a clash at Cator Manor township outside Durban the previous year during the beerhall riots.
The prison was restored as a museum and launched as the Gallows Musuem in November 2011.
