Former Police Colonel Eugene de Kock began with his testimony in Pretoria Supreme Court by revealing his part in the apartheid regime's 'dirty tricks' campaign. Pleading in mitigation over a two-week period, his testimony implicated leading National Party (NP) figures and senior officers in the security forces. He insisted that he was part of a systematic campaign, which encompassed the police, armed forces and covert security units.References:Kalley, J.A.; Schoeman, E. & Andor, L.E. (eds)(1999).
