The government and the African National Congress (ANC) reaffirmed their commitment to the Groote Schuur Minute at discussions held at the Presidency in Pretoria. The discussion group reached consensus on several issues such the release of political prisoners, return of exiles, obstacles in the Internal Security Act and suspension of violence by the ANC as part of the on-going negotiations to end minority White rule. This consensus between the two parties became known as the Pretoria Minute.
