PFP stays its ground concerning president Vorster

5 February 1979
Progressive Federal Party (PFP), official opposition in parliament, refused to congratulate John Vorster on his appointment as State President on the grounds that not all the evidence of the Erasmus Commission had been made public. The party also maintained that someone who had been at the centre of controversy, should not have been elevated to the highest position in the country.
