DF Malan mentions the term 'Apartheid' in Parliament for the first time

25 May 1944
This day in history marks the first time the term Apartheid was mentioned in Parliament by Dr Malan. For Dr Malan, Apartheid was a practice and an ideology to ensure the safety of the White race and of Christian civilisation by the maintenance of principles of separate development. Apartheid as a term soon gained currency, going untranslated into the English political terminology.
