Sibusiso Ndebele, The premier of Kwa-Zulu Natal province and a National Executive Committee member of the ANC, is born

The current premier of Kwa-Zulu Natal province and a National Executive Committee member of the African National Congress (ANC), Sibusiso Joel Ndebele, was born in Shiyana at Rorkes' Drift, near Dundee, Natal (now kwaZulu Natal). Ndebele became premier after the ANC wrested power away from the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the 2004 national elections. He replaced IFP premier Lionel Mtshali.
