The Battle of Blaauwberg takes place

8 January 1806
On 8 January 1806 the Battle of Blaauwberg takes place, and part of the defending force capitulates two days later. Cape Governor Janssens and the rest of the force capitulated on 18 January, after which the second British occupation of the Cape started.
