The Prime Minister of Israel, Yitzhak Rabin, and Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat, shook hands on the White House lawn after concluding the Declaration of Principles for Peace between Palestinian Arabs and Israelis. The handshake marked a historic progress towards peaceful co-existence between the two nations.
