First public service of the Church of England in South Africa

The Church of England or Anglican Church is the oldest of the English speaking denominations in South Africa. The first recorded public worship of the Church was conducted in Cape Town, on 20 April 1749. Regular services commenced in 1806 after the British occupation of the Cape. Sources: Wallis, F. (2000).
