Elizabeth Taylor remarries Richard Burton in Botswana

Actress Elizabeth Taylor secretly remarried her ex-husband Richard Burton, also an actor, while on holiday in Chobe Game Park, Botswana. Taylor and Burton were both married to other people when they first met. The marriage proceedings were conducted by African district commissioner Ambrose Masalila, and witnessed by two employees of the Chobe Game Lodge, Fred Knoessen (manager) and Brian Graham (tour guide) in the far-off village of Kasane. News of this marriage surfaced five days after they had tied the knot. This marriage took place only sixteen months after the break-up of their first marriage of 10 years, and lasted only nine months. Burton died at 58 in 1984 from cerebral hemorrhage, while Taylor died at 76 in 2011 from heart failure.
