David Frost wins the South African Open golf championship in Stellenbosch

David Frost is a South African golfer who turned professional in 1981. In 1983, he had his first professional win. He has won several tournaments throughout his career, including the   Gordon’s Gin Challenge (1983), The Nedbank Golf  Challenge (1989) and his first South African Open in 1986. Most of his victories were at the Gary Player Country Club at Sun City. In 1999 Frost won his second South African Open Championship at the Stellenbosch Golf Club in Cape Town. He shot a 3-under 68 in the final round and claimed the $1 million prize. He beat Germany’s Sven Struver and fellow South African, Ernie Els to win the grand prize.
