Clarence Makwetu Passes Away

At the age of 88, Clarence Makwetu passed away in Queenstown Private Hospital at 13:30 after a long illness. Makwetu was born on the 6th of December 1928 in the Transkei, as the 2nd of five children of Minah and Gqongo Makwetu. He served as a political activist from 1954-1996 and was a Pan-Africanist stalwart. Before separating from the Pan-African Congress, Makwetu had represented the party in parliament and served as president in 1996.
