One day in July 1968 a group of students formed a separate caucus at the annual conference of the University Christian Movement being held outside Stutterheim in the Cape Province. Within ten years most of the students from that meeting were either in exile, banned or jailed.The most important person participating in that first meeting was Steve Biko. Nine years later he died in a South African jail.
