The building was erected in about 1910 by H Moschke to house a number of commercial concerns. It is richly decorated with a number of Victorian architectural details and is the only building of its kind in the centre of Polokwane. After restoration, it became the home of the Polokwane Museum, and was declared a National Monument under old NMC legislation on 7 March 1986.
